Podcast Recommendation – Curiously Kaitlyn

Good podcasts are hard to find! When you do find one, it’s likely been going on for quite a while, and you might want to go back and listen to it all. But it’s SO much!

That’s why my first recommendation is a podcast called Curiously Kaitlyn. It’s a new podcast I’ve really enjoyed and I think you will too! It just launched in April of 2024, so you can easily go back and catch up!

Curiously Kaitlyn topped the charts on Apple Podcasts the first week it was released! Curiously Kaitlyn is a podcast hosted by Kaitlyn Schiess, focused on answering questions kids have about theology. But here’s the twist… She does what most adults don’t: she takes their questions seriously. Kaitlyn poses the questions kids ask her to theologians and gets them to give an answer in a way that adults can understand these questions many kids ask.

Kaitlyn volunteers in children’s ministry at her home church and is asked questions from kids often. She has taken those questions and asked professors, authors, theologians, and others for serious and deep answers about God and faith. She pauses and interrupts the interview to explain theological words or concepts that may be confusing so we can understand deep aspects of faith.

This is not a podcast for kids. This is a podcast for parents with kids, or children’s ministry volunteers, or anyone who is around kids who ask questions we might be tempted to brush off.

For example, a couple of weeks ago, she had a conversation answering the question, “Why do humans not have superpowers?”. You may have heard that question from kids before and may have answered with, “because we don’t” or “God thought we didn’t need them,” or perhaps simply chuckled and brushed it off. But, what if there’s a deeper answer that reveals something amazing and beautiful about God? SPOILER ALERT… THERE IS!!!

Other questions so far include, “Were Adam and Eve babies?” and “How is God everywhere, and why can’t we see him?” and “How do we know the Bible is true?”- questions that maybe you’ve even wondered about before!

Parents, it’s your responsibility to teach your children! The local church is here to help, but listen to podcasts like Curiously Kaitlyn and take those simple questions and teach them something deep and moving about the God who loves us! Then pretend you can fly with your kid!!
