It’s been four years since I last updated this blog. A LOT has happened during that time. I wrote the last post right before everything shut down in March of 2020. Since then, I’ve stepped into the Senior Minister role, had two kids (one more on the way), and earned a lot of gray hairs! I try convincing myself they are pieces of wisdom, but I’m not sure I’m buying it yet. It sure has been a long four years! I’ve learned a lot!
But I’m not back here to share what I’ve learned.
A major change I made in the summer of 2023 was hopping off of social media. I had already left Instagram some time before, and last summer it was time for Facebook to go, at least for a while. I’ll be honest; I miss catching up with people who don’t live nearby and whom I don’t see on a regular basis. However, I don’t miss the hatred spewed, uneducated opinions, or deeply unChristlike attitudes and words from people who claim to be Christians. There appears to be a widening gap between “Christians” and those who are actually following Jesus, and it breaks my heart.
But that’s not why I’m back either.
I try to read and listen to a large variety of content. I receive all kinds of content in my inbox, and without social media, it’s not as easy to share what I’ve been learning or reading. So, my desire is to dust off the cobwebs from my blog and use this as a platform to share resources, books, what I’m learning, encouragement and those kinds of things. I’m not an expert on much, so I’m going to stick to what I know. My background and focus are Christianity, God, and the church world. I’m going to strive to build up and equip, not tear down.
I’m back to share resources and things I’ve found helpful in learning more about God and following Him more.
So, I encourage you to leave a comment if you have feedback or any questions/topics you would like to have more resources on. (Feel free to start on this blog by dropping a comment below!)
I’m not sure how often I’ll share; once a month will be what I strive for, but I’m not sure I have the bandwidth now for once a week. I know you’re juggling a lot, so I’m keeping these short and sweet. My aim? 450 words or less. Short enough to read while you handle your business with John. (Yep, there’ll be some laughs too, fingers crossed you catch ’em!)
Stay tuned! First installment hits soon!
